Bauchi grants N2.5bn in subsidies for prospective pilgrims

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved covering half of the increased 2024 Hajj fare for prospective pilgrims from the state.

This implies that the state government will provide a subsidy of ₦959,000 for each of the 1,652 potential pilgrims from the state, amounting to a total of ₦2.5 billion.

The state Commissioner for Religion Affairs and Community Orientation, Alhaji Yakubu Hamza, revealed this information during a press briefing at the Government House in Bauchi on Friday.

The commissioner said that,“benefiting intending pilgrims comprise those who have already paid the increment and those who are yet to commit to the development as well as those who were being awarded a Hajj slot by the state government.”
