Tinubu To Meet Ondo Assembly Members Over Plots To Declare Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa As Acting Governor

Any moment from now, President Bola Tinubu is billed to meet the 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly over plot by 11 of the Assembly members to declare the Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as Acting Governor.

WazobiaReporters had reported exclusively that 11 of the 26 House of Assembly held meetings in Abuja in the last four days, where each of the eleven members allegedly received a “mobilisation of $10,000.”

Some Northern Governors are also said to involved in this move, seen as opportunity to get at Governor Akeredolu, for his stance on the Southern Presidency and his

strong voice against the issue of killer herdsmen as well as anti-open grazing.

A member of the State House of Assembly who preferred anonymity said “What these people don’t understand is that the State Executive Council will have to initiate the move to get a Medical Panel to assess the governor’s health condition first, before the House of Assembly can take any step.

“That those involved in the plot are even only 11 out of the 26 members of the House further makes it unconstitutional and lacking in legitimacy.”

It was reliably gathered that the lawmakers would discuss the issue of the executive arm of the government of the state as the lawmakers may declare the deputy governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as acting governor, following the inability of the governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, to resume office, due to ill-health.

The governor is still recuperating at his private residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

A source, however, noted that some of the lawmakers might not be at today’s sitting as a result of disagreement among them on the issue of Aiyedatiwa. He also disclosed that today’s sitting had the consent of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress

When contacted, one of the lawmakers and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Olatunji Oshati, confirmed the development but could not confirm if Aiyedatiwa would be declared an acting governor or not.

The Assembly spokesman said, “What I can tell you for now is that there is something like that, not to declare him (Aiyedatiwa) but the House is going to sit on the matter and review the political situation today as directed by our national leaders. The House has likely ( made the declaration), but not under must, I don’t want to preempt what the outcome of the meeting would be. If it is likely to happen, you are invited as well.”
