The suspense and anxiety surrounding the outcome of the National Assembly primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ondo State appear to be over: the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on Friday, finally okayed candidates who will contest the National Assembly election on its platform.
The intra party exercise, especially the outcome had caused apprehension within the party in the state but the latest development has laid to rest all such anxiety.
Those who finally made the list include the following: Senators Robert Ajayi Borofice(North); Donald Tayo Alasoadura( Central) and Yele Omogunwa(South) despite the opposition by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s supporters.
Preferred aspirants of Akeredolu for the senatorial seats are Tunji Abayomi (Ondo north), Alasoadura (central) and Lucky Ayedatiwa (Ondo south) whose two of them have been rejected by the national leadership of the party.
The three members of the House of representatives who were stopped from getting return tickets including Afe Olowookere (Akure south/north) and Kolawole Babatunde (Akoko south west/south east) who many have described as the most efficient federal lawmakers from Ondo state while Friday Olemija from Akoko north east/north west also got his hope of retaining his seat dashed.
Even the governor’s preferred aspirants like Gboyega Adefarati, Olemija, and few others from Idanre/ifedore, Ileoluji/okeigbo and Okitipupa/Irele were also rejected by the party; a development that is now causing disquiet in the Aketi’s camp.
On the list of approved House of Representatives candidates are former security aide to Transportation Minister while he was governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, Ade Adeogun(Akoko South west/south east); Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Akoko North West/ North East); Timehin Adelegbe(Ose/Owo); Jimmy Faloye(Akure North/South); Hon Ola Baderinwa(Idanre/Ifedore); Dr Jibayo Adeyeye(Ondo East/West), Hon. mayo Akinfolarin (Odigbo/Ileoluji Okeigbo); Hon Akintoye Albert also a former federal lawmaker (Irele/Okitipupa) as well as a top flight journalist, Donald Ojogo(Ilaje/Ese-Odo).
