Insecurity: Army commences clearance operation in Ekiti

• DECOMPOSED CORPSE OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPED VICTIM FOUND

The  32 Artillery  of the Nigerian Army has commenced clearance operation in Efon Alaaye Local Government Area in Ekiti State.

The clearance operation, which was organised to address incessant kidnapping and robbery incidents in the area, was led by Brigadier  General James Ataguba, commenced in the early hours of Friday, “where thick forested areas of Arifa community, along Iwaraja road was combed.”

Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major  Ojo Adenegan, in a statement said: “While combing the thick forested areas, the decomposed body of a man, suspected to be a victim of kidnapping, was found with his GSM phone ringing repeatedly.

“The Nigerian police and the state government have been informed for the evacuation of the decomposed body.”

He, however, informed the general public within the area not to panic on sighting movement of troops, noting that the operation was “to make those black spots crime-free.

“The general public are advised to cooperate to achieve more success in the course of the clearance operation in the area of information sharing on the activities of the criminals through the brigade.”
