Exclusive! Adeyeye sets to decamp to APC, gets N200m from Amosun, to pick Senatorial ticket in 2019

Barring any last minute change of mind, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday.

Adeyeye met with the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, last Sunday, where his movement to APC was sealed. Part of the deal was payment of N200 million to Adeyeye as refund for his campaign expenses and a promise to give him the party’s senatorial ticket for Ekiti South in 2019, and governorship ticket in 2022, should Fayemi wins the July 14 election.

He is 61 years and will be 65 in 2022.

Sources in the known disclosed that the N200 million will be sourced through the office President Muhamadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

Adeyeye, who lost the PDP ticket to the State Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka, had earlier insisted that he must contest the governorship election under any party.

However, all his efforts to secure a party under which he will contest the election failed, with his last minutes plot to get the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket thwarted by the party’s candidate, Evangelist Gbenga Adekunle.

According to one of Adeyeye’s aides, he met with Governor Amosun privately in Government House, Isale-Igbein last Sunday night.

Adeyeye confirmed the visit to Amosun.

Already, Adeyeye was said to have met with Fayemi and the deal to hand him the Ekiti South Senatorial ticket sealed. He is billed to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari between today and tomorrow.

Adeyeye left the Action Congress (AC) in 2007 in protest over the emergence of Fayemi as the party’s governorship candidate. Then, he described the primary election that produced Fayemi as a fraud.
