TKO Aluko: I returned to Fayose because he has done well for Ekiti

Former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr Tope Aluko has said that he returned to the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose despite all that he said about him in the past because “the governor has done very well and no right thinking indigene of the State will stand against him.”

Speaking today, on an Ekiti Television (EKTV) programme, Day Break Nigeria, Aluko, who emphasized that he had apologized to the governor, said he was not pretentious about his decision to return to the Fayose political family.

Aluko had issued a press statement on Wednesday stating that; “By the grace of God, myself and Governor Fayose have resolved all issues and I have apologized to him for whatever wrong steps that I took in the past. The governor took me back without consideration for the past and for this, I have vowed to remain committed and loyal to him and all that he represents.”

The former PDP secretary also described Governor Fayose as a leader with a very large heart, saying; “I am also totally in support of the continuity agenda of the Governor, which is the adoption of Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola as the preferred candidate of the PDP.”

When asked how he felt coming back to Governor Fayose despite what he said against him, Aluko said he never had any personal issue with the governor other than his inability to see things as the governor saw them then.

“I think I know better now as to why the governor took the position that he took then, offering me something different from what he promised before the election. Dynamics of politics do change and when that happens, whatever arrangements agreed upon by gladiators may not stand. I think that’s what happened then and I understand better now,

“Most importantly, Governor Fayose has totally changed the infrastructural landscape of Ado Ekiti, the State capital as well as other major towns in the State and I doubt if there is any right thinking indigene of thus State that won’t fall in love with him. Truth is, even if you hate him before, you can’t but like him now because he has done so well despite the paucity of fund,”Aluko said.

While reiterating his support for the adoption Prof Kolapo Olusola as the preferred candidate of the PDP, Aluko counseled other governorship aspirants in the PDP, especially the duo of Prince Dayo Adeyeye and Senator Biodun Olujimi to stop acting as opposition to the PDP government of Governor Fayose.

He said PDP remained the only option for Ekiti and its people in the July 14 governorship election, asking; “What will Dr Kayode Fayemi and Senator Babafemi Ojudu tell the people of Ekiti that they have benefitted from the Abuja appointments they are presently holding? What did Ekiti people benefitted from four years of Fayemi as governor and Ojudu as Senator?”
