The Ekiti State Police says it has launched a manhunt for a former leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in the state Niyi Adedipe popularly called ‘Apase’.

He was alleged to have physically assaulted a member of the group and damaged a car belonging to the incumbent coordinator after a political rally held within the state capital.

Adedipe was one of those recently freed by an Ado Ekiti High Court after three years in detention for an alleged involvement in the murder of a former leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, Chief Omolafe Aderiye.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi who confirmed the incident to reporters on Saturday, said Apase is currently at large and has been unreachable.

But the force promised that they will find him and ensure that justice is served on the matter.

Galadanchi also encouraged residents to desist from any act capable of endangering the peace of the state.
