The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently interrogating a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Babachir Lawal, over alleged N223 million fraud.
It will be recalled that an ad-hoc committee set up by the Senate, to investigate the disbursement of funds for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North East, had indicted Lawal of alleged mismanagement of the said support funds.
The development had led to the former SGF’s suspension and a subsequent sack by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Lawal arrived the EFCC headquarters today a few minutes before noon, ostensibly to face a crack team of interrogators.
It was not clear as at the time of filing this report if the ex-SGF would be allowed to go on administrative bail.
